Events on three fronts this weekend on the OJCT

Three events take place on the Ontario Junior Curling Tour this weekend. First up is the Ottawa Valley Curling Association SuperSpiel Qualifier for teams playing out of OVCA clubs.  8 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams via for three spots per gender for the OVCA Annual SuperSpiel in two weeks time.  All games take place at the Almonte Club near Ottawa. Second event is the 2nd Annual Rocktoberfest Bonspiel at the Coldwater and District Curling Club.  This U18 event will feature 12 women’s and 11 men’s team. And finally, the annual Brampton Curling Club U21 event rounds out the weekend with 15 men and 11 women competing for the championship.  All scores this weekend will be available on the OJCT website powered by partner...

Rankings and Point Charts updated to 09-30-2016

Tour rankings and points charts have been updated to the events that have been completed until 09-30-2016. This year you will find rankings calculated for the U21 men and women as well as the U18 men and women.  The events included in these ranking only include points earned in U21 or U18 events.  Points earned in U21 events by U18 teams are not included in these rankings and will be added to the U21 rankings at a later date. Busy beginning to October on the OJCT

Three events this weekend saw some familiar faces and new winners on the OJCT. Hailey Armstrong and her team from the Rideau Club in Ottawa continues on its early season roll with a victory at the Rideau Icebreaker in Ottawa.  It’s third victory in as many events, they have a clear lead at top the U21 women’s rankings.  Sierra Sutherland was the runner-up.  Jessica Thorne’s team was the B event winner, Grace Wallingford the C event winner and Kayla Gray taking the D event. In the men’s event at Rideau, the U18 team from Carleton Heights skipped by Jordan McNamara also continued its winning ways earning their second event victory defeating Ryan Hahn in the final.    Congratulations to James Sutherland and his event team for another great event. In Oakville, the annual Optimist Junior Bonspiel saw twenty-four teams competed for the overall championship with Team Massey coming out victorious of Team Running of Coldwater in the main event final.  Other event winners included Team Fayaz, Team Goves and Team Warriner. And finally, the 2016 edition of the Southern Ontario SuperSpiel Qualifier (SOSSQ) saw eight men’s teams and and ten women’s team compete for two spots per gender to OVCA SuperSpiel in Ottawa at the end of October.
