Tour Rankings Updated

The OJCT Tour rankings have now been updated with the results of a number of U18 events over the past few weeks. The U18 Men’s race continues to be very tight with Team Del Conte climbing back into the lead after their recent second place finish at the Stu Sells U18 Slam.   There is no reason to think that it will not come down to the final event to see who finishes on top. In the U18 Women’s rankings, Team Bernard continues to solidify their position atop the rankings while Team Gray has climbed into second place by virtue of their recent success at the Stu Sells U18 and the TCAs in December....

Mooibroek and Gray win U18 Stu Sells Slam

The U18 Stu Sells Slam, hosted by the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club, concluded Sunday with teams Mooibroek and Gray emerging as the champs. Team Gray won the championship final 7-2 over team Sutherland to claim the girls title. The win by team Gray is their third in four U18 events this season, as they look primed for the start of U18 playdowns. On the boys side, team Mooibroek took down team Del Conte 6-1, and finishing the weekend a perfect 6-0. The Stu Sells is their second U18 Slam win of the season, showing they are also primed for U18 playdowns. Teams coming a win away from the final included Bernard and Deschenes on the girls side, and Enman and Goves on the boys side....

Double Dose of Ontario for U21 National Playoffs

The playoffs have been set at the 2017 U21 Canadian Juniors, and Ontario will be a part of the playoffs on both sides. On the women’s side, team Armstrong capped off an undefeated round robin with a 7-3 victory over Alberta. Their 10-0 record earned them a direct birth to the national final, where they await the winner of Northern Ontario (Burns) and Alberta (Streifel). On the men’s side, team Hall advanced to the playoffs with a 4-3 Championship pool record, 6-3 overall. They earned a spot in the tiebreaker game against Manitoba (Ryan), who finished with an identical record. The winner advances to the national semi-final against Northern Ontario (Horgan), with B.C. (Tardi) waiting in the national final. Best of luck to the Ontario and OJCT teams as they look to win a Canadian Championship this weekend, and represent Canada at the U21 World...

Bernard and Domaratzki Are Elmira Champs

The Elmira U18 Spiel concluded Sunday with teams Bernard and Domaratzki emerging victorious. Team Bernard wrapped up an undefeated weekend with a 7-2 win over team Heittola in the girl’s final. On the boy’s side, team Domaratzki beat team Del Conte 7-5 in the final, thereby avenging their round robin loss. Both finals were joined on the ice by consolation finals involving the semi-finalists. The girl’s consolation saw team Snelgrove defeat team McKenzie 6-3, while the boy’s game saw team Purdy defeat team Running...
