U18 OCA Qualifier Points Charts now posted

The strength of field and event points available calculation charts for the 2018 OCA U18 Qualifiers have now been posted to the OJCT website. U18 Qualifiers are the final event for inclusion in the 2017-18 U18 rankings and with a field of more than 90 U18 teams across both genders, there are a lot of points up for grabs. U18 Rankings Update

With the completion of the 2018 Elmira U18 event (final points results can be found here), the rankings for all OJCT registered teams from their full season results to date have now been updated on the OJCT website rankings page. With the U18 OCA Qualifiers entry now past and team self-ranking to be sent out soon, this can act as valuable input for teams looking for input on ranking their peers. One event, the OCA U18 Qualifiers, remains in the 2017-18 U18 season to determine the U18 men’s and women’s champions and those who will get invites to the inaugural U18 OJCT Championship Invitational in April. Poluck and Del Conte Win in Elmira

The Elmira U18 Spiel concluded Sunday at the Elmira & District Curling Club, with teams Del Conte and Poluck emerging victorious. Both teams will jump up the OJCT standings, after earning victory points at the tour’s last U18 event before playdowns. Del Conte finished off a perfect weekend with a 7-3 victory in the boy’s final. The game saw a meeting of two 4-0 teams, as team Massey also entered the contest undefeated. Del Conte scored 3 deuces in the game and limited Massey to 3 singles, en route to the 7-3 final. Joining them in the boy’s playoffs were teams Prenevost and Flannery, who met in the 3rd place game with Prenevost winning 5-4. The girl’s final saw two 3-1 teams looking to finish the weekend 4-1, and claim the Elmira title. Team Poluck took 3 in the 3rd and 2 in the 7th en route to a 6-4 victory over team Don. Last U18 OJCT Tune-up This Weekend

The last OJCT tune-up before the start of U18 playdowns takes place in Elmira this weekend. 8 boys and 8 girls teams will look to build some points and momentum before heading into playdowns. With 5 of  top 20 on the girl’s side, and 4 of the top 20 on the boy’s side, the action this weekend could yield some points for teams looking to jump up the OJCT standings.
