Sid Wilson Cup

The top junior men and junior women teams in Ontario will compete at the end of each season for the OJCT Championship title – and a chance to have their name on the Sid Wilson Memorial Cup. Among the most coveted prizes in Ontario junior curling, the championship trophy is presented each year in memoriam of an avid curler, and junior supporter.

Sidney Roy Wilson was born September 24th, 1940 in Kerwood, Ontario. A printer by trade, Sid worked for the majority of his career at the Globe and Mail. Sid was a long standing member of the Kiwanis Club of Oakville, exemplary of his commitment to the community he lived in and youth in general.

Sid was a member of the Oakville Curling Club for his entire curling career, and was a staunch supporter of junior curling at the club.

Prior to his retirement, he recognized a niche in the trophies market and established Sid’s Trophies – now a regular fixture in Halton area sports. Continuing Sid’s community involvement under the leadership of his wife, Vi Wilson, Sid’s Trophies continues to support sports teams throughout Oakville and neighbouring areas.

As testament to his love for curling and community, Sid’s Trophies has kindly donated the Sid Wilson Memorial Cup for presentation to the winners of the OJCT Championships each season.
