The traditional season opener on the OJCT U21 event schedule in a new calendar year has been the Carleton Heights U21 Bonspiel at the Carleton Heights Curling Club in Ottawa.

This will be no different this year as both regional and teams from other parts of Ontario and Quebec use this as their first event of the season to get their curling slides back into form over the Labour Day weekend (September 1 – 3, 2017).  Teams play a minimum of four games (three on Saturday) with the event wrapping up on Sunday.  There are still some spots available and open to both U21 and U18 teams so contact James Sutherland, Event Organizer or Alex Young, Manager Carleton Heights Curling Club for information.

Not only do you get to curl, you can also enjoy the Labour Day weekend in the National Capital Region and the many Canada 150 celebrations still in the area.

The event will be the first event to operate with the new OJCT points model as a regular event with the strength of field index for the event to be determined just prior to the event.   You must be registered with the OJCT to earn the points.

It is always a great event in the beautiful city of Ottawa.

Maybe your team can use this as a springboard to your new season’s success!  It has helped to launch the curling careers of many well known names in the curling world in the last like; Rachel Homan, Jamie Sinclair and Mat Camm just to name some of the familiar names on the World Tour today.
