Some of the very best men’s and women’s teams on the Ontario Junior Curling Tour will test their skills against some of the top teams from the rest of Canada and around the world as the OVCA Brokerlink SuperSpiel event starts tomorrow in Ottawa. The event will be played at various clubs in the Ottawa area ending Sunday with championship play at the City View Curling Club.
In the women’s event, points leaders and local favourites team Wallingford (#1) and Little (#3) will be joined by fellow Tour teams Jewer (#4), Smith/Brunton (#8), St Georges (#9), Steele (#13) and Gray (#20) as they take on top teams from Switzerland, the U.S., Sweden, Nova Scotia, British Columbia , New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Manitoba and Prince Edward Island.
The men’s event has an equally strong field with 2017 Junior national silver and bronze medalists and OJCT teams Hall (#1) and Horgan (#2) joined by local Ottawa teams Willsey (#3), McNamara (#11), Hahn (#12) and southern Ontario teams Marshall (#5) and Richard (#7) take on a field including world Junior silver medalists, Team Stopera from the U.S., teams from Switzerland and France as well as teams from B.C., Manitoba, Newfoundland, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador.
