Hall and Wallingford Win Ontario U21 Championships

The Ontario U21 Championships concluded today at the Annandale Golf and Curling Club, with Kitchener’s team Hall and Ottawa’s team Wallingford claiming the championships. The wins will see players on both teams returning to the Canadian U21 Championships, as team Wallingford’s vice Grace Holyoke and second Lindsay Dubue, along with the entire Hall team, represented Ontario last year. Men’s playoff action started at 9 am, with a semi-final featuring two 5-2 teams, Leung and Hall. The game saw team Hall score a 3 in the 3rd end and 2 in the 9th, which were the only multi-point ends of the game. In a battle of the OJCT’s top 2 ranked teams, Hall was able to crack a deuce in the 1st and 8th ends, which helped them take down the previously unbeaten Willsey team, by a score of 7-2. Women’s playoff action started at 9 am as well, with a tie-breaker between teams Little and Steele. A back and forth affair went team Little’s way, with the final score 6-4. With the win, team Little advanced to face team Wallingford in the women’s semi-final. Up 5-4 after 8 ends, team Wallingford scored a 3 in the 9th and took the game 8-4, advancing to play team Murphy in the final. Following a steal of 3 in the...
