Hall and Wallingford Win Ontario U21 Championships

The Ontario U21 Championships concluded today at the Annandale Golf and Curling Club, with Kitchener’s team Hall and Ottawa’s team Wallingford claiming the championships. The wins will see players on both teams returning to the Canadian U21 Championships, as team Wallingford’s vice Grace Holyoke and second Lindsay Dubue, along with the entire Hall team, represented Ontario last year. Men’s playoff action started at 9 am, with a semi-final featuring two 5-2 teams, Leung and Hall. The game saw team Hall score a 3 in the 3rd end and 2 in the 9th, which were the only multi-point ends of the game. The game ended in a 8-4 win for team Hall, who advanced to play team Willsey in the final. In a battle of the OJCT’s top 2 ranked teams, Hall was able to crack a deuce in the 1st and 8th ends, which helped them take down the previously unbeaten Willsey team, by a score of 7-2. Women’s playoff action started at 9 am as well, with a tie-breaker between teams Little and Steele. A back and forth affair went team Little’s way, with the final score 6-4. With the win, team Little advanced to face team Wallingford in the women’s semi-final. Croisier and McNamara claim TCA Championships; U21 Provincial Playoffs Set

TCA’s wrapped up Friday in Oshawa, with teams Croisier and McNamara claiming the major titles. The girl’s playoffs saw Croisier defeating team Kay 5-2 in one semi-final, while team Deschenes took down team Bernard 5-2 in the other semi-final. The final finished with a similar score, as Croisier emerged with a 6-2 victory. Meanwhile, the boy’s playoffs saw McNamara beating team Enman 7-2 in one semi-final, while team Rotskas stole the 9th end to beat team Massey 4-3 in the other semi. The boy’s final saw a tightly contested 3-2 game go the way of team McNamara. The east end of the GTA also played host to the U21 provincials, as Annandale Golf and Curling Club hosted the Ontario Championships. Playoff brackets were filled out Friday, with teams Willsey (7-0) and Murphy (6-1) punching their tickets to the finals. Saturday’s playoffs will see team Leung (5-2) take on team Hall (5-2) at 9am in the men’s semi-final, with the winner advancing to play Willsey. The women’s tie-breaker will also go at 9am, with team Little (4-3) and team Steele (4-3) looking to advance to the semi-final. Busy post Christmas calendar for junior curling

The eastern region of Toronto will fill with some of the finest junior curling teams in the province, as both U21 Provincials and the TCA Youth Championships take place starting today. In Ajax, the Annandale Golf and Curling Club hosts eight men’s and eight women’s teams looking to represent Ontario at the Canadian Juniors in Sherbrooke, Quebec in mid-January. Led by 2017-18 OJCT Season Points Champions Team Hall and Team Wallingford, the fields feature 8 of the top 10 ranked men’s teams and 4 of the top 6 ranked women’s teams. Meanwhile, Oshawa will host some of the province’s top young teams, as 20 boys teams and 23 girls teams look to claim the TCA Youth Championships. OJCT Announces 2017-18 U21 Season Points Champions

The OJCT is pleased to announce its 2017-18 U21 Season Points Champions For the men, with an impressive three victories in tour events this year including two OJCT majors as well as a victory on the OCT Tour at the KW Fall Classic, Team Matthew Hall from the Westmount Golf and Country Club is this season’s OJCT Men’s Champion.
