Northern Ontario’s team Brunton, and team Sinnett from the U.S., made their road trips worthwhile, claimed 2018’s first U21 major. Both teams had dominating weekends, as they combined for 13 wins, en route to claiming the Stu Sells Junior Tankard.

Team Sinnett won their round robin pool with a 4-0 record, folllowed closely by team Hart at 3-1. In pool B, team Stopera was the pool winner with a 3-1 record. The women’s pools finished with two pool winners at 4-1, team Auld in pool A and team Brunton in pool B. One win behind them were team Kiemele at 3-2 in pool A, and teams Bernard and Hunt Club at 3-2 in pool B.

Women’s semi-final matchups saw team Brunton versus team Kiemele, and team Auld versus team Hunt Club. On the men’s side, semi-finals were team Sinnett versus team Fenech, and team Stopera versus team Poole. Teams advancing to the finals were Brunton, Auld, Sinnett and Poole. Team Brunton claimed the women’s title by a score of 7-5, while team Sinnett claimed the men’s title by a 8-5 score.

Teams Brunton and Sinnett will now have the opportunity to take on some of the world’s best by receiving an entry into the Stu Sells Tankard, taking place in Toronto over Thanksgiving weekend. Congrats to our first major champions of the season!
