The 24th annual BrokerLink-OVCA Junior SuperSpiel takes place from October 27 – 29, 2017 and features one of the best junior event fields outside of the World Championships. Games are played at a number of clubs in the Ottawa region so this year’s participants get to enjoy Ottawa and Canada’s 150th birthday activities in and around the region.
This year’s elite women’s field is headlined by Teams Selina Witschonke (Swiss), Madison Bear (USA), Team Woolpower Östersund (Sweden) together with Kaitlyn Jones (NS), Megan Smith (NOnt) and Team Sarah Daniels (BC). Together they are the 2017 WJC #5 and #7, the Swedish #2 Junior and #3 Women’s, the 2016 WJC Gold, the 2017 Canadian Junior Bronze and 2016 Canadian Junior Silver representatives respectively. This great field will be joined by Teams PEI – Lauren Lenentine, Nfld – Brooke Godsland, NB – Samantha Crook, MB – MacKenzie Zacharias and QC – Laurie St-Georges, all provincial champs or qualifier winners that qualified for the event.
Headlining the men’s field this year are Teams Andrew Stopera (USA), Jan Hess (Swiss), Matthew Hall (Ont), Tanner Horgan (NOnt), JT Ryan (MB), and Matthew Manual (NS) – the 2017 WJC Silver and #6, the 2017 Canadian Junior Silver, Bronze (and 2016 Silver), #4 and #5 representatives respectively. A terrific field who will be joined by Teams France – Theo Lucroz (WJB #4), NB – Liam Marin, NL – Greg Blyde, BC – Kyle Habkirk and QC – Antoine Provencher.
Five teams per gender will be added to the field of sixteen from qualifier events in Kitchener-Waterloo at the end of September and from an event in Almonte in mid-October. Teams can enter the qualifier events through these respective websites (Ontario) (Ottawa Valley), entry restrictions apply.
