With 3 events across Ontario Sunday, there’s lots of action and things on the line at each of the 3 OJCT events.
In Waterloo, 4 births into the Superspiel are on the line, as the Southern Ontario Superspiel Qualifier moves into playoffs Sunday afternoon. With the women’s round robin complete, the A-side match sees team Doig against team Coburn, with the loser getting a second chance in the B-side final. The B-semi features teams Auld and Madden, with the winner advancing to the B-final. The men’s round robin continues into Sunday afternoon, with teams Mooibroek and Hart leading the way at 3-0 after three games for all the men’s teams. The top team after round robin claims one birth, while second and third will battle it out for the second superspiel birth.
In Ottawa, the Hogline OYCL U18 spiel rolls into playoff action Sunday with girl’s semi-final matchups featuring 3-1 team Blad against 4-0 team Vivier, and 3-1 team Deschenes against 2-2 team Parks. On the boy’s side, semi-finals will feature team Inglis and team Rowe in one game, and team McNamara and team Collins in the other game.
In Oakville, the Optimist U18 spiel rolled into semi-final action Sunday, with boy’s matchups featuring teams Goves (4-0) and Hocevar (3-1) in one A-semi, and teams Del Conte (4-0) and Rooney (3-1) in the other. Girl’s A-semi finals feature 4-0 team Byers taking on 3-1 team Woodend, and 3-1 team Cowan taking on 3-1 team Johnston.
After a Sunday full of action, the first U18 champions of the fall will be crowned, and 4 teams will claim a place in the Superspiel field.
