The last weekend of October has arrived and it is starting to feel like fall (and winter for some) across the province. On the OJCT Tour this weekend (October 28 – 30), two great events will be contested.
In Ottawa, the 23rd annual Ottawa Valley Curling Association (OVCA) SuperSpiel takes place. Featuring men’s and women’s teams from all across the country and as far as away as China, Switzerland and the United States, it is annually one of the best fields of junior (U21) teams assembled. Host clubs include Carleton Heights, Granite, Navy, City View, Ottawa, RCMP and Manotick. Play starts 9:00AM Friday and you can find live scoring on the OJCT website here powered by CurlingZone
In Galt, the Galt Country Club plays host to the JuniorSlam Series with the men’s edition of the Orion
Slam (U18). 16 high performance teams from across Ontario will compete for the championship. The RockTalk focus for this event will be on Varsity Curling featuring University of Guelph women’s head coach Byron Scott.
College and University Curling provides great development opportunities for athletes, with Provincial, National and International Championships available. What’s more, varsity curling teams give you exposure to some of the best coaches in Canada. But how do you access all that AND make sure you pick the school that best meets your academic goals?
A post-secondary curling “trade show” will also take place where athletes can browse displays and talk to coaches from the top College and University curling programs in Ontario, including Brock, Guelph, Laurier, McMaster, Ryerson, Fanshawe, Humber and Mohawk just to name a few.
Live scoring for the Orion Slam can be found on the OJCT website and at www.juniorslamseries.com/scores
