The Southern Ontario Superspiel Qualifier concluded yesterday, with 4 teams joining the pre-established field, set to compete October 24-27 in Ottawa. Team C.Johnston rattled off 5 straight wins and claimed the women’s first qualifying spot, while the men’s first qualifier was team Mooibroek, who finished round robin 4-0.
Johnston won a tight 1 vs 2 game by a score of 7-6, and claimed the first spot while knocking team Ladouceur into the second qualifying game. Ladouceur would meet team Kiemele in the women’s second qualifier, who took down team Warriner 8-2 in the 3 vs 4 game. Ladouceur would rebound and grab the second spot by a 7-2 score. The men’s second spot was claimed by team Purdy, who scored 2 in the 8th end for a 4-3 win over team Bissonette.
