The Carleton Heights Junior Labour Day Cashspiel features 8 men’s and 8 women’s team hitting the ice for the first spiel of the season. Teams are looking to build some early momentum, grab some points, and cash the first curling cheque of the season.

On the women’s side, teams Sutherland and Comeau are coming out of the gates strong, grabbing the top 2 playoff seeds with 3-1 records. Bunched behind them at 2-2 are teams Vivier, Gray, Deschenes, and Lavoie. Rounding out the women’s side are teams Gargul and Madden, who concluded round robin with 1-3 records. All teams will advance to Sunday, with Vivier and Gray joining Sutherland and Comeau in the women’s championship semi-finals.

On the men’s side, team McNamara has started off 3-0, earning a championship semi-final birth. Team Hahn finished round robin at 3-1 and will be headed to the championship semi-finals as well. The 3rd and 4th place are still up for grabs, with teams Marin and Flannery at 2-1, followed by Del Conte and Rowe at 1-2. Team Mulima finished at 1-3, and will be joined on the consolation side by team Robinson who are looking for their first W.
