The final 4 births to U21 provincials were on the line this weekend, as 2 women’s spots and 2 men’s spots were up for grabs at the U21 challenge round. 5 women’s teams ventured to the Hamilton Victoria Club to try and earn their place at provincials. Team Bernard strung together 3 straight wins to claim the A-side birth, with wins of 9-4, 8-7 and 10-3. After an opening 6-5 loss to team Doig, team Kastrau rebounded with 2 wins (11-3 over team Don and 7-6 over team Steele) before entering a rematch against team Doig in the B-final. In a back-and-forth game, Kastrau emerged victorious 9-6, and claimed the last women’s spot at provincials.

6 men’s teams headed to Lindsay this weekend, with their sights set on grabbing one of the two remaining births. Team Hahn claimed the A-side with 3 wins in a row (8-5 vs Roitz, 6-2 vs Fenech, and 3-1 vs Steep). Team Steep dropped into the B-final, where they met team Del Conte, who took down team Fenech 8-6 in the B-semi. A key steal of 2 in the 8th end put team Steep up 6-5, and after forcing Del Conte in the 9th, they scored in 10 to win the B-side.
